Questions? We’ve got answers.

Research consistently shows that people learn more, remember more, and apply knowledge better when learning together. Meta-studies covering 100+ research papers demonstrate that collaborative learning improves problem-solving, retention, and behaviour change. E-learning alone rarely leads to lasting change, while group reflection, shared commitments, and peer discussion do. Collaborative programs combine the impact of group learning with the scalability of digital formats – which is why they outperform both classic workshops and self-paced courses.

Collaborative programs grew out of a simple insight: real learning and change happen between people, not just inside content. Funkis started building this format with global clients like IKEA and Volvo Group to replace costly, hard-to-scale workshops. The goal was to keep the power of group dialogue – but remove the dependency on constant facilitation. Over time, this evolved into a structured, scalable format that blends individual preparation, guided group work, and shared outcomes.

Absolutely. Collaborative programs are designed to work both with and without facilitators. Many organisations use them as fully self-led experiences, while others combine them with live facilitators, coaches, or experts. The key difference is that the program carries most of the structure, instructions, and flow – which dramatically reduces facilitator preparation time and ensures consistent quality. Facilitators can then focus on what humans do best: dialogue, reflection, and sense-making.

A collaborative program can include individual pre-work, group workshops, breakout exercises, digital whiteboards, prioritisation and voting, ratings and assessments, scenario discussions, media sharing, and action planning. Activities can be learner-led or group-led, run live or asynchronously, and seamlessly build on each other. All participant input is captured and can be reused later – turning conversations into shared outcomes, not just good discussions.

Funkis Platform is the technology behind collaborative programs. It consists of three parts: Funkis Authoring Tool to design programs, Funkis Cloud to host and measure them, and the Funkis Player where participants run the experience. Unlike traditional tools, Funkis is built specifically to minimise the need for human instructors while maximising group interaction, shared data, and measurable outcomes – all in one integrated platform.

AI in Funkis acts as a co-facilitator, not a replacement for people. It supports participants with explanations, summaries, feedback, and reflection prompts – all based on what the group actually says and does. AI can summarise large volumes of input, highlight patterns, generate tailored feedback, and support decision-making in workshops. For security-critical organisations, Funkis supports “Bring Your Own Model,” keeping all data within the client’s AI environment.

One example is Essity’s global leadership program, run as a fully self-led collaborative program. The result: 87% cost savings compared to instructor-led training, 40% time savings for participants, and 92% willingness to recommend the program. Other cases include global ethics programs, leadership town halls, and team development workshops rolled out across multiple countries, languages, and time zones – with consistently high engagement and measurable outcomes.

Funkis offers a growing catalogue of ready-to-run collaborative workshops covering topics such as team effectiveness, leadership, ethics, organisational effectiveness, innovation, and upskilling. These programs include built-in facilitation, AI support, and structured follow-ups. They can be used as-is or adapted to your context. Off-the-shelf programs are ideal when you want fast impact without starting from scratch.

Funkis integrates with LMS platforms in several ways, including xAPI reporting to an LRS, event-based VILT connectors (e.g. Cornerstone), and automated or manual completion reporting. Participants can be onboarded either directly through Funkis or via LMS-scheduled events. This makes it easy to keep your LMS as the system of record, while using Funkis for what it does best: collaborative learning and change.

Collaborative programs reduce or eliminate facilitator costs, travel, train-the-trainer efforts, and repeated delivery expenses. Built-in facilitation makes sessions 60–75% shorter than traditional workshops, with far less preparation. Studies and client cases show up to 87% cost savings compared to instructor-led training – while maintaining or increasing impact. Cost savings come both from lower delivery costs and reduced productivity loss.

Collaborative programs generate rich, structured data from real conversations, decisions, and reflections. This makes it possible to identify patterns, emerging risks, cultural signals, and capability gaps across teams and over time. Instead of just tracking completion, organisations gain insight into what people actually experience, believe, and struggle with – turning learning programs into a continuous source of strategic insight, not just training activity.

But don't just take our word for it...

“You always get a nice surprise at delivery because the result is always better than you had dared to hope for. And it feels fun, safe and professional working together with Funkis.”
